QR Code Generator
A QR code generator encodes text, a URL or contact details into a scannable two-dimensional barcode.
Codes are rendered in your browser, so nothing you encode is transmitted. Download as an image for use in documentation, posters, test fixtures or delivery labels.
Use cases
- Testing scanning flows: Produce codes for mobile app scanning tests.
- Documentation and print: Add codes to guides, labels and posters.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the data I encode sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser.
QR codes in practice
Error correction, size and what to encode · 150 words
1. Error correction levels
QR codes carry redundancy at four levels, from L (about 7% recoverable) to H (about 30%). Higher levels survive damage and logos placed over the centre, at the cost of a denser code. For print that may be scuffed, prefer Q or H.
2. Keep the payload short
Every extra character adds modules and makes the code harder to scan at distance. Shorten URLs before encoding, and avoid stuffing structured data into a code that only needs a link.
3. Size and quiet zone
Keep a clear margin of at least four modules around the code, and print at a size proportional to scanning distance — roughly a tenth of the distance. A 2 cm code is fine on a leaflet and useless on a poster.
